چکیده

We use the recent deuteron Compton data to evaluate the J=O fixed pole in neutron Compton scattering. This calculation includes the effects of both Glauber and Fermi motion corrections in the extraction of the free neutron cross section from the deuteron data, The result is consistent with the Born answer, zero.’ As a by-product, we show that the f:A2 ratio in Compton scattering is much larger than previously expected. Recently there has been a great deal of speculation concerning the existence and nature of fixed poles in two photon processes. Damashek and Gilman, and also Dominguez, Ferro-Fontan, and Suaya, ’ have established that a description of the high energy data of on-shell proton Compton scattering requires, in addition to the standard Regge terms, a constant real part whose magnitude and sign agrees, within errors with the Thomson limit

Exclusive γγ → hadron pairs are among the most fundamental processes in QCD, providing a detailed examination of Compton scattering in the crossed channel. In the high momentum transfer domain (s, t, large, θ cm for t/s fixed), these processes can be computed from first principles in QCD, yielding important information on the nature of the QCD coupling α s and the form of hadron distribution am...

Hard hadronic exclusive processes are now at the forefront of QCD studies, particularly because of their role in the interpretation of exclusive hadronic B decays, processes which are essential for determining the CKM phases and the physics of CP violation. Perturbative QCD and its factorization properties at high momentum transfer provide an essential guide to the phenomenology of exclusive am...

We study Compton scattering, γ e → γ e, in the context of the recent proposal for Weak Scale Quantum Gravity (WSQG) with large extra dimensions. It is shown that, with an ultraviolet cutoff M S ∼ 1 TeV for the effective gravity theory, the cross section for this process at the Next Linear Collider (NLC) deviates from the prediction of the Standard Model significantly. Our results suggest that, ...

In this contribution we describe computational tools that permit the evaluation of multi-loop scattering amplitudes in N = 8 supergravity, in terms of amplitudes in N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory. We also discuss the remarkable ultraviolet behavior of N = 8 supergravity, which follows from these amplitudes, and is as good as that of N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory through at least four loops. ∗ In...

Determining the accuracy of measuring the thickness of steel plates using Compton scattering method

When there is limitation access to one side of the structure in industry, one of the best methods for thickness measurements is the Compton scattering. In this paper, due to the statistical behavior of dispersed beam counting, we discuss the accuracy of the measurement for steel thickness. Using the experimental method and comparing it with MCNP simulation code, the accuracy is obtained less th...
